ABOUT

Who Are We?

Founded in 1992, the Louisiana Oncology Society (LOS) is the largest oncology professional organization in the state. LOS comprises a powerful community of oncologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other multidisciplinary care providers involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

The Louisiana Oncology Society (LOS) is a State Chapter Member with the Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) and maintains an affiliation with the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Through this collaboration, LOS members have access to valuable educational content and innovative resources that help them stay ahead of local and national challenges—ensuring patients continue to receive the high-quality care they deserve.

We collaborate with internal and external organizations to support our mission of improving patient outcomes and the treatment of cancer in the State of Louisiana.

To carry out our mission, we strive to:

  • Promote quality treatment and care for all patients with cancer in Louisiana;
  • Provide effective representation for clinical oncologists practicing in the State of Louisiana;
  • Disseminate information concerning the diagnosis, care, and treatment of cancer to practicing physicians and the general public;
  • Encourage the improvement of community facilities relating to the care and treatment of cancer patients;
  • Promote new cancer technologies and educate physicians, healthcare providers, and the general public regarding such new technologies; and
  • Foster collegial relationships among oncologists practicing in Louisiana.

Our goals are to:

  • Advocate on state and federal legislative issues impacting patient access to care
  • Provide an education forum for our members on the current technologies and medical best practices in cancer care delivery
  • Communicate changes and updates in oncology practice to our members and the broader community.
